How we source

We visit every workshop before we list a piece. That isn't a marketing line — it's why our catalog is small.

What we look for, in order:

  • The maker controls their own kiln, loom, or bench. Not a designer who outsources production; the person actually making it.
  • Material provenance is verifiable. We can name the farm, the tannery, the mill.
  • The piece improves with use. Patina, softening, the kind of wear that makes something more itself.

When we get a question we can't answer about how something is made, we don't list it.
